A researcher in mediaeval Chinese literature
Christian Pak (MA with distinction, Hong Kong, 2022) is a researcher in East Asian Studies. Currently a research postgraduate at the University of Alberta, Canada, his interests lie in mediaeval Chinese literature and its literary reception, and classical Chinese vernacular narratives (huaben). At the University of Alberta, he is focusing on Early Tang poetry and currently exploring Chen Zi'ang (fl. 652–699) and his social network associated with Daoism. He obtained a MA in Chinese Language and Literature at the School of Chinese, The University of Hong Kong (HKU) in 2022. Christian is a member of the Rocky Mountain Modern Language Association, the British Association for Chinese Studies, and the European Association for Chinese Studies.
白洋,東亞研究研究員,現為加拿大艾伯塔大學東亞研究系研究生。他的研究興趣為道教與唐朝文學、中古中國文學及其文學接受、以及古典中國小說 (唐代傳奇及話本) 。在艾伯塔大學,他正著墨初唐詩人陳子昂 (約652–699) 及初唐與道教相關的人際關係。他此前曾於香港大學中文學院求學,取得中國語言及文學文學碩士學位並以優異成績畢業。他現時為落磯山現代語言學會、英國漢學學會、以及歐洲漢學學會會員。

Christian is also an experienced and passionate instructor. He has taught a variety of courses related to Chinese language as a second language, as well as courses on Chinese civilisation. In 2019, he taught an undergraduate senior-level course on Chinese palaeography at the School of Languages, Linguistics, Literatures, and Cultures at the University of Calgary. He also served as an instructor at the Chinese Academy from 2018 to 2019, teaching Chinese classes at various levels, from grade three to adult learners in both Cantonese and Mandarin Chinese tone.

Christian is currently a Project Manager of the Consortium for Distributed and Passive Sensing, where his responsibilities include assistance in project administrative duties, project deliverables, events, and ongoing strategic work within the Consortium. He possesses 5+ experience of managing and executing research projects in science and engineering related fields and specializes in knowledge dissemination and manuscript editing. He previously served at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering from 2019 through 2022 and the Communications and Public Relations Office at CUHK from 2017 to 2018.
